Watseland ruin - too dark?

Too dark, right?

Basecoat of cheap "black" acrylic paint (more of a Dark Grey) drybrushed with Vallejo Light Grey.

Opinions?

  1. I don't think it is too Dark, the walls just scream for some graffiti though ;-).

    1. But I rarely see graffiti in the Fallout Wasteland, who still has spraycans 200 years after the war?

  2. Hard to tell from the picture. If it represents bare concrete you could go quite a bit lighter? And I have to agree, it needs graffiti(and litter)!

    1. I agree, it needs to be lighter and more concrete. No graffiti, you hardly have that in Fallout, but I'm having extra sheets of newspapers printed just to go full out for this building.

  3. Wouldn't burnt out buildings look a little dark anyway?

    1. True, but 200 years after the war, you'd think the soot and everything would have been gone by now :)

  4. It looks fine to me. To get an idea how concrete ages why not take a look at the state of the concrete on the Atlantic wall bunkers or something like that. Okay they're not 200 years old but it might still help. Personally I think they'd be quite dark and grimy from 100's of years of neglect.

    1. Yup, been doing just that. I came to the conclusion it is easier to weather a lighter tone then trying to alter the dark mass you see now.

  5. Looking good Johan!
Maybe a little bit lighter, it's hard to tell from just one picture.
Are you going to do some cool weathering effects?

    1. Just made a new post with the new paintjob :D 3 shades lighter, so it is easier to weather and better visible under normal lighting (I'm too spoiled working under daylight bulbs)
