Race to the drain cancelled.

 I've had a little setback hands and brainwise so nothing new to show.

I have however a little bit of news. Not bad or good, not sad or happy news. I've been declared 100% unfit for work or arbeidsongeschikt as we call it here. It took me 7 years of fighting to finally accept that this isn't going to work (ha, pun!) anymore.

In my last report the Doc cleared me for 6 hours a day, 30 hours a week of light office work, but the Jobcoach (Arbeidsdeskundige) not only fully disagreed with thatc onclusion, he went against it in full force as the Doc was being very vague and overly optimistic that I would be fully healthy again soon. A pretty bold claim seeing I've been slowly getting worse year after year.

Final call, 100% unable to work. And I'm forbidden to work in a callcenter again as those are deemed detrimental to my health.Which leaves....nothing, in my condition. 

So that is that.No more constant pressure to get back to work, crash again, repeat.

Next week back into the hospital for more Neurological tests, after that possible surgery on my hands again, which might make things better.....questionmark?

Hobbywise....I hope to have something nice to show you soon. maybe.

The Last War - Scenery WIP 2

 All the wood is now finished, and craters made and spackeled. A few detailing bits to add like a shrine or a ladder and then it is time to hit the primer for everything and start making a muck mix for the top, as well as coil all the barbed wire.And then it is creature time, I'm already working on a few testers to see if I like the look etc.   

The Last War - scenery WIP 1

 I literally dropped one of my entries on the floor thanks to my brilliant hands and I gave up on them all. Seeing my hard work shatter in many pieces.....yeah.

So, I grabbed a sheet of free styrofoam and cut it into smaller bits and made 2 test pieces for The Last War.
Those came out really good, but 5cm was too tall so I recut everything I had made down to 4 cm. 

And that's how I have been spending my evenings. They are big, durable when dropped.

I'm doing them as tinned sheet and wood trenches. Everything completely in wood really nackered my wrists so that was out. I'll be adding details to some, but not all. I only need enough for a 2x2 area, but making more than enough to cover a 4x4 table for Killteam as well (might as well, right?)

 

 

Goodbye house, thanks for the memories

 Even if I have not lived here for the last 18 months, it has been a big part of my adult life. The things I did, the things I've seen and lived will stay with me for as long as memory will keep them alive...which makes it a good thing that I have pictures as oh boy has Covid done a number on the old noggin

Wadiya Patrol Boat Nr. 1

" A splendid gift from the friendly nation of Iraq to the nationd of Wadiya, to mark everlasting friendship"

A former Iraqi patrolboat (former Russian) has been donated to our glorious Navy to serve as a deterrent to the fiendish rebels. It's not the newest, or fastest, but comes with a extra bucket.

A toy boat donated to me by a friednd many a year ago and which fits 15mm perfectly, now finally ready to hit the table as.....something.

Painted up for the Summer Water Build 2023 that ran from June 21st till Sept 30th. (yes, I'm finishing it exactly on the deadline, sue me). Copied the paintscheme off of some Iraqi Minelayers from after the war, and yes, they really looked as shit as this, see attatched picture.

Build Something Small 2023 Challenge - Teeny tiny slum - WIP 2

 A little bit of progress, again grabbing from a bag of ancient bits ( the things you find sometimes....)

Wanted to see if I could give it a nice entrance and accidentally ripped it off from the base completely....apparently I had not glues it down as well as I though. That has now been remidied, after inserting the new door. A Tau something has now become a something next to the door. Is it a air filter, a coffee machine, a letterbox. God knows. This too has a small power generator, just need to fill in the side.

Build Something Small 2023 Challenge - Teeny tiny slum

 I want to build something scifi for this build as well, so a 15mm slum it is. I really like building these :)

Also, recycling is fun. The top of a horse trailer I once glued some bits on to try and make something to set next to a 28mm house, but since discarded. A very old Tau drone conversion, and some more bits. have to make a barn, a small garden plot, maybe try and tie in the old Necron scarab somehow?

I have less than a month, so carry on.

I'm used to getting a box with smallish sized pieces, and this was a new store for me, but...

I'm going to need a bit of time to see what part works best, and shred/cut the parts I need for this and other builds.

Build Something Small 2023 Challenge - Mine? Mine! Entry

 The 2nd of my entries for the Challenge will be a 28mm Mine entrance....but I'm not going for easy. I like making a bit more visually interesting, so....

I want a steeper bit of hill and a mine opening and a ramp or ladder up to it. And I have to stay inside a 15 x 15 cm square and max 25cm tall. The only thing pre made sofar is a bit of plastic rail (from a toyset I guess?) I found at the Goodwill years ago...finally it is time to put i to good use :)

My lazy sunday afternoon (besides, cooking, cleaning, laundry, folding, chasing afte the kids) and this is how it started saturday evening and where I am now.

Scrap wood from New Years Eve fireworks, everything pinned and glues with superglue and dowels where possibel for added strength. Need to cut a 15 x 15cm MDF base fot it, and the beams will be pinned into that as well so it is going nowhere. Spoil shute is ready, just need to add reinforcing beams between the legs. I expect a order or cork bark to arrive somewhere next week. 

Mine will be usefyl for 28mm Mid West COwboys era as well as Postapoc Fallout

 Made the sign that can fit on any table, on top of buildings, in a harbour or airport.

Cutting mat is in cm blocks so you get an idea of the size.

Made with a cut off bit of foamboard, some wooden swizzlw sticks and lasercut letters from a set from the the local hobby shop. Posters thanks to a friend :)

Was inspired by a post of one of my FB friends, his daughter did het first piece. Happy with the result.

A WIP here, a WIP there

 Had a pleasant night of painting after having a week of coughing fits, always fun. WHile being sick I started to drag boxes of old stuff, tossing out the unneeded crap and picking up a few half finished models.

Finally sytarted work on the 2nd Pirate for Stargrave to make sure I can have a game before 2100 AD. Also trying a new scheme from Mediocre Hobbies with a toutch of me to get a Kill Team done. Should be a evening or 2 to get these done.

And made a sign to go with the Airport COntrol Tower (or anywhere really) doe my 15mm AK-47. Needs some bushes, crap but other than that pretty much done.

And my desk is a mess again. Need to fix that.

Alien plants aka Big Brown Nuts (scatter terrain)

 Ran into a pot of these sold in the local Action as ....home decor something. 1.50 euros for a pot.

Sorted the broken stuff from the ones that were ok, superglued everything in place and together. Took like forever! Sanded the bases painted the and gave the nuts 2 coats of varnish....and that is it.

Will work for my 15mm as well as my 28mm collection.

I have no idea from which plant these are btw.

Welcome to the Jungle

 I was outside at the local Action today to pick up a dust-tape-roller-thingy for my photobackground, when I walked past a fake plant sphere and though, those leaves look nice. 3 euros was spent on it, and thus my lazy sundayafternoon was replaced with factorylining. Still have enough bits on it for more bases, so I will do that tomorrow and then base up the lot in one go after that.

 Finished a few items from the WIP box. Couple of things I bodged together from the various 40K Mechanisu something scenery sets that tend(ed) to go cheap after another box release. Ah well. More to come, no idea when I will finish them.

Mordheim, when the walls fell - Part 2

 Got most of the detailing done, rooftiles next.

 Focus, me? Nah. Walls will be finished when the kids leave for their 2 week holiday, grabbed a base and some of my new black foamboard to try and make a quick and dirty Mordheim ruin....by copying a picture. 2 nights in and it's all off the rails again, but I'm really trying to keep it simple (for me anyways)

Busted warehouse, no windows, just a loading area, 2 planked sections to give the core of the building extra strength. Will try to stay low on details. Hope to have it prime ready in a few days. Built for strength so wood is planked over foamboard floors.

Mordheim, but no reason why not useable for other Fantasy and even Silver Banyonet....I've been eyeing that all of a sudden, thanks to Piers

WIP Walls (Killteam, Stargrave, Post Apoc, anything 28mm)

 Had a hobby night lastnight that was cancelled at the last moment, so donned the painting apron and went ahead with a quick (turned out to be not that quick) drybrush of all the walls I made, painted the metal parts and did the rust on everything. Next up is detailing, rubble, posters, and some more weathering. I'm really trying to get this all done in another 1-2 painting sessions. 

All made from foam, MDF bases and cocktailsticks for rebar, with some lights made and printed by Modhail tossed in. Nothing too fancy, base, some bits with a highlight color to break up all the grey, and detailing. Get it done man, get it done.....

Forlorn Hope at Sachsendorf - Russian WIP part 4

 Not a whole lot, hands are not agreeing with me this week.

Used .5mm lead wire for the cable, cut the ends at a slant and looped then ends back so it resembles the loop at the end of the cable. Not perfect, but it's 15mm so nothing that will be terribly visible. Hung the other cable from the stowage box, glued the gas bottles in place and now looking for a crate. When it has all set I;ll do the milliput tarp and then it is ready for primer I guess?

I might do this to one or two more tanks, maybe a wreck.....but that is it.

Deep Clean

 Summer holiday for the kids starts in a few days , and they were with Kim for the middle of the week....so decided not to go to the gym for a few days and do a deep clean of my desk and surroundings (and boy was it time to do so).

Atm, me going back to work (ever) is very unlikely, so I removed the work printer. I only print my weekplanner and some invoices on it, so it's now hidden in the living room with a cover and connected to my network. So, thats a lot of desk space. Moved the pc and monitor to the right, as well as my cabinet. Tossed out (almost) all unneeded crap and filled 1 drawer with Vallejo and another with my big tools.

Trying to work from this, what you use a lot has to be close, the rest can be further away. So I grabbed a Ikea hobby cabinet from storage and filled it with glue, knives, files, drillbits, brushes and cleaning material as well as seal bags.

Placed the lamp in the middle of my work area so no more bending along a corner just to pass my monitor. Basically, made it more ergonomical.

Grabbed a, what we call Farmacists cabinet (narrow but deep) I got a while back from the Goodwill as I thought it would be useful, removed the brackets from one side and it now makes a perfect WIP boxes holder. And boy do I have a lot of WIP boxes......Great motivation to not buy any more used stuff (or you would think)

Scrubbed the desk clean, and my cutting mats, installed extra sockets for the paint shaker, blowdryer and other tools.

And that took me 2 days and too many painkillers for a job you lot would do in 2-3 hours. I can't wait for the day we start a Cyberpunk Dystopia to fix my failing arms, hands and eyes. Ah well, a man can dream.

Arrow Sign Warnings for Gaslands, 40K, Post Apoc etc (28mm)

 These were made as a custom order at Pat's Lasercuttings and paid for by my own money back in October 2021. As usual, took me a while to get going and get shit finished. (basically I found the box while sorting stuff to sell, sat down cause it was warm today and the laundry was running anyway, and finished it all in one go)

I ordered and painted 12 of each direction.Twas a nice afternoon spent and another item scratched off the WIP list. I left the backs plain, no posters or anything. K.I.S.S. and all that.
