I'd do the tower first as you can always use it without the base. It could also be worth (if you haven't already) making sure the tower is separate. It will make it easier to store, and will mean that the base can be used for something else with similar dimensions as the tower!
Yup, already have, it's on a seperate base to make storage and use easier. Not putting a magnet or anything in it and keeping an eye on bases that fit the opening for other things to put in there.
