A journey of a man trying to fight his Ooh! Shiney! addiction while painting interesting things at the same time....

Technically something I've had in my WIP box for ages, but in parts and unbuilt.
1/35 Italeri Power Line Poles glued together and liquid plastic slop added to fill the seams and removed the insulators. Took a 40x40 base and glued a square washer on them but just off center so I could drill a hole for the toothpick to go through. I cut sections of the smaller kind of firearrow and drilled those for the toothpick, and glued them on the bases with superglue. I took zero care to alingn them at exactly 90 degrees. It's a shithole overthere. This will be a set of 12 which should be more than enough.
Started: October 2024
And it is done. Yes, I could do a ton more, but I won't. She is done and can go with the rest of my scenery and live on a shelf. Again, a shame this is OOP, but there are more MDF fish in the sea.
Enjoy!
I received the missing part in the mail so finished the main part of the build. Still working on adding card behind the steps of the stairs which is a bit more finiky than my hands can currently handle..... I managed to mess up my wristst shovelling snow and that will take a fair few weeks to get better. Jay.
I wanted some Sovjet looking art on the front of the building, so went looking for ideas. Ideas that didn't need to be printed or ordered.
So, into the MDF scrap box I delved.....
I picked this kit up somewhere last year (I think?) and built it today. Nice little thing, quick to build, the losse shutters and windows are a nice addition. I've set the windows back a bit for a better 3D effect. That way they stick out on the inside but that will only help with painting. I've added, but not fixed, a Warbases Lean-to Greenhouse to it, but Il will not be glueing it in place. Easier to store or add quest items this way (and paint!). The storage on the other side I did glue down as it is a bit fragile otherwise.
Just not sure yet about the roof. Metal, pressed fibre or wooden panels?
Happy with the way it looks so calling it a day. Can go straight into my Stalker collection as well as my Post Apoc when it doubles as storage for the Red Star Brewery. Nice kit to work on, I can reccomend it for super generic storage, and this will look fine when painted up as new too, or modern with graffiti on the sides etc.
Only addition made is the card covering the MDF roof and the red star, otherwise stock.
The 28mm Hospital Hut and 4x Barracks Hut I received last week are now 90% built. Roofs have been strengthend and fitted with pressed roof plates. I added a internal wall and a rail for the Hospital Hut to better fit in with my plans. I'm still looking for suitable supports to lift them 5mm or something thereabouts, and I need to glue in all of the window sills. Now that all the top work is done I can get started with those, but the fit for them is extremely tight so it is quite a chore. After that primer, but for now they are going back into the box as these will get painted in one go. Well, the 4 barracks anyway, the hospital can be painted seperately as it needs more work and doesn't perse need the same exterior color as the rest.
I picked up some new MDF from a local seller that has priority now as I want to get those done asap to make promopics for them as I found them very pleasant to contact. And it helps they live a 10 min drive from here. Their models have a certain TT Combat flair about them that I like, but without the card bits. And all of that will be used for Stalker/Post Apoc as well.
Received the order yesterday after paying a rather painful amount of Euros to Customs. Still things.
Well packaged, but a signed for envelope (as PostNL claimed) it was not.

Yeah nah.
Nicely packaged in reusable seal bags, I love that.
After 3 coats of off white I got started today while the girls were doing their homework.

Going for the grey pressed fibre plate this time, weathered. As this is a lot more common this is a good test. Needs a bit more work but nearly there.

Went for olive green doors on both sides, metal for the garage door and wood for the side doors so I can do 2 different kinds of weathering.
But who knows how that will end up :)
I made these ages ago for Gorka Morka out of foam blocks, MDF bases and cheap filler, primed them and then....nothing for years. Painted them grey a few weeks ago, got them out this afternoon while the girls were doing homework and wanted to get them done today.
