Hammer Time!

Just not in the way you would think.....

Years ago I liked this post on Reddit.

I liked it so much I wanted one for my Fallout gaming table. So I asked Patrick from Pat's Laser Cuttings if he could lasercut me a 28mm one after I sent him the details. And that he did.

As it always goes, I built it, but had issues with keeping it properly upright so after some bodging I got it to work. Primed it, painted it a little bit was stuck on how to get the text on.....and then into The Box TM it went in one of my many cleaning runs....

Out it came last week. I own a laserprinter these days so the lettering was 0 issue anymore. Some extra weathering, basing and done. Will work for my Modern, Post Apoc, Zombie and even my Cyberpunk table (if you visit a backwater). Yes, fun build this was.

A few moments later.... Plus a quick tutorial on tarped goods

Eyes are healed, tests keep coming back fine, headaches back to my usual 5 days a week, new glasses set me back a hard 1200 so back to trying to get stuff done.

Scratchbuilding it is then :)

Picked up a box of these at the Goodwill. Could have bought it for less I think at the Action but here we go.

Glue the together in sets of 2. They are not all idnetical in size but that helps with details when the tarp goes over it.

Then glue them as high as you want. I went for just overhead cover for standard 28mm figures. 3 blocks of 3, 1 block of 6 and 1 block of 7 for visual interest and ease of placement.

Yes, this is how they started, but I ripped the two 3's apart again

Then get some cleaning rags with alcohol solution for your glasses, you can buy these in a pack of 40 or so for cheap. Come to think of it, you can also use alcohol swabs from your First Aid kit. Open a few and let them dry out, this helps with cutting them to size.

I just glued them in place with any old tacky glue and once it had set coated it with some rubbed on superglue for extra hardness.

Primed the lot British Uniform and drybrushed that a few times, then used the AK Markers to colour in the crates, did some basic weathering and markings and they are done.

Easy peasy. The paper they use for those cleaners gives a great texture and the superglue makes it nice and solid. Give it a go yourself!

Finish it! - Bombshell Miniatures Minebots

Started - Well, bought in this case, June 2015. When shipping from the USA was still affordable and not a spare (tariffed) kidney.

Thats 2 moves ago and 10 years of my life. Was about bloody time I painted these.

"IIyama-Kevill SH-17S are affordable small size service robots for all of your needs for your Interstellar craft. Equipped with 2 dexterious manipulators no small task is too great for them. Directly connected to your ships computers they will not shy away from any service issues that arise and handle these in a swift manner"

IIyama-Kevill commercial add

Kevin kicked the now smoking little droid, the 10-gauge slug having removed the large central eye and most of the upper part of the little body. Its shiny black casing went flying and crumpled into a corner with a bang. He looked over to Fran who was taping up the puncture in the left leg of her suit, where the droid has sliced right through the suit but missing her leg. While that was going on, the scanner started pinging again. 3 more little lights came running around the corner. Kevin racked in another round for a aimed shot at the nearest little shit. This was costing too much time.....

I tried to make them as multi use as possible. 28mm or 15mm, Pulp, Sci-Fi or Cyberpunk.

White basecoat, several washes of Vallejo Dark Grey Wash and for the eyes I used 3 thinned Speedpaints (Blue, green and red). Decal from the Vo'Tann decalsheet from GW. Multiple coats of gloss varnish. 20mm magnetised round base. No damage.

I can't find the original models in the Bombshell Miniatures metal line, but you can get these as STL's now: Minebots

On one of them the antenna had snapped so I removed it from all 3.

For now they will get blasted apart in Scrapjacks :)

Sarissa Precision P040 City Hall - MDF build completed

The kit is now completely built. I added scraps of MDF as windowsills, and replaced the MDF columns with dowel. Those will be glued in place once painted. In this case I'm thinking about glazing with a full sheet of transparancy and glueing the top on and just call it a day. With no floors inside there isn't a real need for it? We will see once I paint it up, for now it is in the  (rather long) cue.

I'm not going to weather this to hell. I can see this being used anywhere from 1700 till the earth has gone to shit, as a city hall, bank, library, investment banker HQ (wait, in that case it needs to be burned down) or a nice extra home for a 28m Aladeen (when, if, ever). But formost it is going into my Post Apoc collection.

Blotz 28mm Nursery Greenhouse finished

I honest to god do not know when I bought this. It could be well over 10 years now, at a Crisis show even? I started it but got burned out several times by the placing of panes of glass, and then putting it in a box where it stayed for years on end, only to add a few more panes, get burned out again, etc.

But I'm calling it done now. Yes, I could do a ton of more work on it.....but she is good enough now. Time for closure.

The Blotz 28mm Nursery Greenhouse currently retails for  5.83 GBP excl VAT and can be found here:
Nursery Greenhouse

I added a base from scrap card, used only one of the potting benches that came with it (and I'm not sure they still do as it isn't mentioned in the text). The oil can is a 1/35 Italeri one, and the blue canister is just a bead. I used various leaves from my collection, even punched ones out of real leaves, and some tufts, but kept it base so it can still properly lift off. Lot's of blister packaging was used for the glass.

Finishing a quickbuild (9 months later) - 15mm Fishing Boat (or Mistery Machine)

I finished the fishing boat I started in August of last year, see here: Quickbuild Fishing Boat

I added a mast, resin tires, more netting and then the top light broke off, then reprimed it and it sat abandoned in a box for 8 months, until refound during one of my many, many cleanups (though it never seems to get much cleaner, funny that).

Spent 2 sessions painting it and getting it ready for pictures, and yet again I realised while checking the pictures on my PC that I had inadvertently painted a somewhat familiar scheme.

Just a bit less bright than this....

Also, I need to make a few docks, I should prep some of the big blocks of wood I have with filler to make concrete piers or something.

 Anyhoo....

"One of the many small fishing boats fishing for sardines off of the coast of Wadiya, KG 3 is nice and bright with the usual eyes on the bow to ward off bad luck. To date, she has never burned down and only dragged a naval mine once"

She is one of a set of 4 boats from Kibri, set 39160 which can be had for about 20-ish euros per 4.

Monument Groupbuild - The Roundabout Monument

In 1906, the first roundabout was built in Wadiya, starting a world wide craze and the obvious lie that the British created the first Roundabout in 1907. Its creation was documented in The Wadiyah Times on opening day April 1st 1906, sadly the records were lost when the paper burned down in 1965.

To commemorate the 50th year since its creation, a large monument was erected in the middle of the roundabout in 1966. This did create a sharp increase in donkey related fatalities, something the Department of Tobacco, Donkeys and Firearms strongly denies.

This was my backup entry after I wrecked the original one. I hope to get that fixed somewhere in the future. Dimensionally it is overly large and I left off most scale specific items on this, so it is also playable for 28mm. I've made a "after the Revolution" copy as well to use after the loss of a game or to recapture it. Just for funsies. I'll post up the other entries as well after the deadline expires.

Banged up Silo

 3 years ago I painted up 2 Silo's > Double Silo

Today, I finished a third :) There will be loads more as I find them supergeneric for various scales, even if they are originally for H0. Next up I should paint a few more that aren't knackered though...they are great for the Zone.
