Bombing up

I really, really prefer 3mm aircraft for air gaming. Easy to mod, paint and finish. But for my 6mm Russian Army (still in a fetal state) I want matching airsupport, so I have some Heroics and Ross stuff. The quality....ehm....varies? But hey, have to work with it, so.....

Magnetised as always, and I used 1/300 WW2 air ordonance, modifed for the modern aircraft, pinned in place etc. A lot of work for someome with functioning hands, pure unadulturated fun for me. But hey, when I have an idea, you know what happens......

MiG-21 now has 4 FAB bombs
Su-25 has 2 droptanks on the inboard stations, and 2 rocketpods on each wing for now. Might make yet another rocket pod for both wings, or dual or quad bomb racks, or load up on something else. Depends what my hands can handle, really.

Northag: Buying the farm - part 1, subsection A

Now I remember why I loved painting 6mm. Quick results, and you can go to town.....none of that "wash and a drybrush" stuff for me, you can paint Microarmour nicely even if it means using a magnifier (though in this case I did not need to.

Double coat of varnish and ready to be placed on a bit of scenery....when it arrives and I paint it that is.

Northag: Buying the farm - part 1

Right, Northag. 6mm is the scale I've chosen. And I love to scratchbuild.

So, 1+1.....

I've got virtually nothing left from my previus Modern 1/300 stuff, so it is a fresh start. I just want to order what I can build in a certain amount of time, and taking it one step at a time. Well, I can try at least.

I'll start off with a Dutch/German farm complex with bits on seperate bases. I always liked that style and I'm sticking with it. I'll be making cow pens, the farm, storage sheds, farm equipment and the works so stuff can be swapped out around. I think I will order mostly from Leven to keep it all from one company, easier that way.

But first, to test what I can with my hands, a old trailer to park next to a shed. Or something. All Heroics and Ross parts, plus time and effort.

Nothing huge, but fun to do :)

Their 20 feet container and 2 rear axles off of a Bedford truck. Some plasticcard and a broken pin.

6mm lives!

Mymy, a year has passed so quickly. Better get cracking then on the rest.

All Heroics and Ross 6mm. Big bases are 40x20mm, small base is 20x20mm. B&G on the Supply truck is "Benzin und Gasoline" which I nicked off a 1939 Blitz photograph and is perfect for a resupply vehicle, albeit a fuel one.

Death on a small scale

Death on a small scale.

I managed to find some strength and painted this last night, mostly with washes. It is a Heroics and Ross Panzer IVD hull mated to a later model turret, with schurzen made from plasticcard. I copied the wreck from online photographs, as I do all the time.

For my Battlegroup forces this will be a casualty marker or a objective marker, whatever is needed more and, more importantly, looks better.

1 euro cent shown for size.

I might need to add another coat of matte, I don't think this one was mixed properly.

French and German

Finished some more bits today.

A little Renault UE tarted up as a AOP
Conversion of a normal Renault UE tractor. Heroics and Ross crewman, one you will be seeing a lot of. Base is 20x20mm

SdKfz 222 in panzer yellow (it had camo but didn't look so good, so repainted it)
Again with Heroics and Ross crewman. Doms decals 1/600th Balkenkreuz for the win on a 40x20mm modified base (arrow denotes Recce in my book)

And a Stug to command my Borgwards (soon, very soon). Doms decals again, same problem with camo, antenna in the right places. 40x20mm base again.
Accidentally darkend the tab by using a brush that wasn't cleaned properly, do it has a dark wash over it. Not too bad, but I need to pay more attention to that.

Thats all folks.

Fire! Just a test.

Testshot of my fire and smoke. I feel just drybrushing it on doesn't cut it, the flames should be inside, not on the outside. So, what do you think?

Toppled truck

Since I can never resist doing wrecks (and have a reputation to uphold), here is one that can double as scenery as well as an objective or a destroyed marker.

See insert for view at 30 cm range. Boxes made from square bits of sprue, wheels are from a 1/288 airliner kit, model is a Heroics and Ros Blitz truck minus the tilt. 30mm round base.

Tracks and Trucks

More Heroics and Ross goodness.

Bergepanzer III (with Doms Decal Balkenkreuz)

And again, for a real table size at 20-30 cm's. look at the insert. Added a crane, a fuel drum and what was supposed to look like an engine. It should have been upright though, not flat like it is (bad for engine)

Opel Blitz

Fiat 626

Hope you like em. Tell me if you like the camouflage, or not.
