Sunderland repaint-ish

I wasn't entirely happy with the green-brown contrast (or lack thereof) on the Sunderland. As a lot of future aircraft need those colours I decided to lighten the brown colour to VMC 70.875 Beige Brown

As compared to the slightly darker tone:

It is a small difference, but looks better I think.

  1. Looks pretty good. What color do you use for the canopy glass?

    1. Black for the entire frame as it makes the colours pop better, then VGC 21 Magic Blue and cover that with thinned VMC 70.961 Sky Blue with bits of the previous blue remaining so it looks highlighted-ish. Then 2 coats of gloss varnish.

  2. The lighter one looks indeed better.
Any idea on how you are going to base them?

    1. Not? Just the standard black base with Lego toppers for the airgames. the same if I would do any naval games.

  3. The lighter version does look better, but also less glossy, so I am not sure if the difference is the colour or the varnish.

    1. My bad, I could find a unglossy first shot...everything I paint gets 2 coats of gloss and 1 coat of matte varnish when it is finished.
